New Blog - No Posts!

Wine on Deck Founder Isaac D. Van Wesep & his Daughter, Eden
Well, I'm totally satisfied with Wine on Deck's new blog.  I built it using Softpress's Freeway 5.5 Pro Web design software, which worked perfectly with Blogger's platform.  It's a big improvement over my previous blogging platform, which was Apple's iWeb.  My one gripe is that I was unable to transfer any of the old posts from the iWeb blog to the new blog.  I know this is typical of Apples' products, or at least it was in the past.  recently Apple has made its software more compatible with the rest of the world, but for some reason iWeb is a completely isolated bit of software.  Not only can one not access the HTML behind an iWeb site, but most of iWeb's functionality is Apple's, not the universal tools employed by nearly everyone else.

So, my unlucky readers, you can no longer browse my past rants and raves.  My embarrassing attack on power-tool maker Sawstop is now available only deep in Google's cache (whew!).  But lots of interesting and informative posts were lost as well.  I will do my best to re-create the best posts for the new blog.

But let us look ahead, not behind!  This is the new place to go for opinions and bloviations from Wine on Deck's founder and CEO - me! - Isaac D. Van Wesep.  Hopefully, for this blog's sake, I'll be able to convince some guest contributors to pen some truly useful posts.  Until then, you've got me and my borderline-professional editorializing.

Seriously, though.  Is there any reason to visit this blog in the future?  Yes!  As the head of a manufacturing company that produces hand-crafted, high-quality premium products, I'm leading a type of company that is both fading into American history and experiencing a renaissance.  As our society begins to face the limits of our planet's resources, companies like Wine on Deck are paving the way to a new kind of business.

These companies do things differently than those which have dominated the West's economy for nearly a century.  Yes, profitability is still a high priority, if not the highest.  But entrepreneurs like me are starting to calculate profitability in a different way than it's been calculated for as long as I've been alive.  This new calculation takes into account not just the proximate value of our actions in the marketplace now - but also the future value of today's choices.  Entrepreneurs like me don't see shareholder value as a simple dollar amount, paid in dividends or rising share prices.  Rather, shareholder value includes dollars, developing a strong community of future leaders, ensuring an ample supply of raw materials in the future, and the chance to share our lives with those we love.

Money can't buy you love.
