Wine Wings win inclusion in the Green Bride Guide's Green Vendor Directory

I'm pleased to announce that Wine on Deck has been included in the Green Bride Guide's Green Wedding Directory of pro-planet vendors. 



Getting on The Green Wedding Directory involves fairly rigorous application process.  Their questionnaire includes sections on the green practices a vendor employs, what (if any) certifications a vendor holds, and the composition of the vendor's products.  Once an application is filed, staff at the Green Bride Guide (GBG) audit the vendor to ensure what's claimed on the application form is actually true.  If everything checks out, the vendor is included in the site's vendor directory.

Filling out the application threw into stark contrast what Wine on Deck is doing TODAY, as opposed to what we COULD be doing tomorrow, to do business more responsibly.  For example: using renewable energy.  It's high time we asked out local energy provider (NSTAR) to sell us our electricity in the form of renewable energy credits.  Of course, this electricity costs more than "normal" power, so it's been hard to motivate to hack through all the red tape, to pay more for electricity in the end, "green" or otherwise.

When GBG asked if Wine on Deck was a member of 1% for the Planet, or give a portion of profits to charity, I was able to answer yes.  Luckily it was a yes or no question: we do give 10% of eBay sales to the EcoLogic Development Fund, but we could certainly do more.  As for 1% for the Planet, I'm still not sure where our donation goes & how it's spent, so I'm holding off.
